I am very thrilled to finally have my pinball machines in a place I can play them. I worked on them last night and got most of them working properly. I still have to level them and clean them.. but at least they are here.

Things have been going along here. I've been having more downs the past few days... Seems one thing after another lately.. but I'm trying to stay positive. To top it off my grey kitten, Minion has been ill. She has a rare virus that the vet can't do much for.. We are just praying she gets better. She has had a tough start to life and we all love her so much. Today she is feeling a bit better so I hope she can turn around.

My studio is pretty much ready to work in now.. a bit more cleaning and sorting and then I will move on to my supply area. I want things to be organized again so I can at least find things. Nothing more frustrating than trying to create and not being able to find your supplies.

I am pleased to announce I will be taking part in the Trick or Treat Studio tour for 2012! I know October is a long way away but I am already getting excited. I had SO much fun last year and I already have some special new critters who are floating around in my head waiting to be made!

We have had a cold spell here the last few days. Can't complain really as it's been such an awesome winter this year with hardly any snow and awesome temperatures... I am still longing for those warm summer nights though. Cruising on the highway out to the lake with the windows open and the stereo on... Ah.... I can feel the warm breeze.. lol!!!

Things are good here though, thanks to the people who have asked! It means the world to me to have all of you out there. I've been having up's and downs... but things get easier everyday!

Hi all,

Well it's time for me to come clean about what is going on with life here. My relationship of many years ended. It has been a difficult time and I've shed many tears and have had many a breakdown in the past couple of months. It is all done now and I am starting to pick the pieces back up. I am ready to start over again though, looking forward to the future again instead of not.

I'm moving my studio so I've not been working on anything. I hope in a couple more weeks all will be set up and ready to go. I had been working on a zombie and I think my Friend Karen from Scratching at the Window has inspired me to make a Krampus :D lol! I can't wait.

So that is what has been going on in my life here.

Spent the morning sewing then went for an outing with my best bear bud Kristina, she really is a nut and lucky that I love her ;) .. lol. We had an entertaining late lunch/early dinner but I had to cut the night short to sew for the show... I'm sure I'd just get into some mischief anyway so it was likely for the best... I did manage to buy myself some sexy Granny glasses though.. haha!

I finally got Halloween put away! Yay! Wow, what a huge amount of work. Took me over 9 hours to pack all of my props up. I forgot what a production it really is. lol. At least it's all done now for another year. I'll be spending the rest of the weekend getting ready for the Teddies Worldwide Christmas show. I'm very excited about the bears I've made for the show and I hope you like them too. Please go vote! The link is in my post below this one.

It's been another good week here and I can say with full honesty this is the happiest I've been in a long time. It's a good feeling and I hope it continues. The past few years with all the struggles have been really difficult on me and I think maybe finally my luck is turning around. They say all things happen for a reason and I really hope that is true.

Tomorrow I'm going to head to the mall and see if I can't spend my birthday money on myself this year... as for tonight I am going to go snuggle in bed with a cat or two and watch Water for Elephants that I picked up the other day on DVD. I can't wait. It was one of my favorite books and I hope the movie does it justice.

Here I am with Mouse, "Making Christmas" lol. It's time to get ready for tomorrow though and it's going to be a big busy day. My poor house is plugged with Props EVERYWHERE..... lol. I have 3 bears totally done for the Teddies worldwide Christmas show... I am working like a mad man to get more done. I sure hope I can make my quota!

Today started with a trip to the store to get Halloween candy, as all the treats I bought already got hoovered. While I was there I decided I needed a new shirt......... It was new and white... but clumsy me can never keep a white shirt clean for long ;)

I survived Thanksgiving but ended up having to work on of my days off so I didn't get as much done as I had planned for the long weekend.. but I will get it all done... just some late nights ahead of me..

Just thought I would check in quickly. I have a horrid cold/bug/virus so I'm extra crabby as the Doll show is on Sunday and I don't want to be sick for it! Easing the pain by saving some wee lives

My heart hurts from the loss of my Motty and it opens up the wounds of loosing Spooky all over again. I know my 2 friends I'm missing so much would be so concerned to see me in such rough shape, Motley would be sitting on my lap nudging me and looking at me with love... Spooky would be resting a big head on my knee, looking at me in wonder of why I was so sad... I try to think of that when I start crying all over again.
Over the weekend what came across my path was a pile of feral malnourished kittens... I won't get into how or why, but winter is coming very quickly here and I knew these little souls would not make it through the winter without adequate food or shelter. A few phone calls to my family at home and I was told I could choose 2 of the little ones to bring back to the office with me.

So let me introduce Lilly and Angel.

We are smitten and although they don't fill the hole left, it really does help as a distraction.. and I can take some comfort in the fact that they won't be starving outside in the cold... Adding yet more kittens to the world that there are no homes for. I wish people would spay and neuter their animals... but I guess that is another rant. We will be going to the vet as I'm sure they both have ear mites, maybe worms and need to be spayed.. although Angel is still way too tiny for that. She is very bony and tiny for her age and needs to put on a huge amount of weight.

We have a long weekend coming up here so I will be spending it finishing off my pieces for the Trick or Treat tour. Fall has really come quickly here and today is the first day I've had to wear a jacket since spring. I will likely have to turn the furnace back on tonight but I have been resisting.. lol.

Broken heart

Friday was yet another very sad day for me. I left work to get parts around 2pm and when I returned at around 3:30 pm I found my cat Motley laying dead in front of my desk. I have no idea what happened, maybe a heart attack... I was petting him just before I left and he was fine. I tried to revive him but he was gone... I am beyond heartbroken. We lost Spooky to old age a few months ago and the cat never stopped looking for him.

I hope they are together at the rainbow bridge. :(

On a happier day a couple of weeks ago.

I miss my sweet boy already. I don't know how or why he was taken from me. I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around it... and I keep waiting to see him in his empty bed on my desk.. or having him jump on my lap wanting cuddles.

Motley came into my life as a stray 7 years ago. He was starving, beat up with a broken tail, missing chunk of ear and face wounds. He had ear mites and worms... Someone had dumped him at my parents, where I was still living at the time. I could not bear to see yet another dumped cat eaten by a coyote or run over by a car. I packed him up into my truck and off we went and I had an office companion from that day on. He never tried to get out, he never caused any problems or did anything naughty. He was my perfect little angel and we loved one another very much. I look at his photos and see love in his eyes, just as I saw everyday that I spent with him.

I love you and miss you so much. I hope you have found Spooky at the Rainbow bridge and you guys are trying to steal the best spot on the sleeping bed from each other.

So this is what I've got lined up for the fall season. I hope you can all make it to at least one of the events (and since 2 are online you have no excuse ;) lol) as I'm SUPER excited!

First off is the Halloween Trick or Treat Studio Tour. I am SO excited about this one. As most of you know Halloween is my favorite Holiday and I am so looking forward to showing you the very special pieces I've been working on.

Next is the Edmonton Doll Club show. I missed the show last year but worked very hard the last few months and I already have most of the critters made for the show. I am very much looking forward to spending the day chatting it up with collectors and... of course shopping! lol. I hope if you are in the Edmonton area on the day of the show you will pop in to say hello.

And, the last show of the year, The Teddies World Wide show. I am very thrilled to be taking part in this show again. Last year it was loads of fun and this year is going to be VERY special as I will be making some very special miniatures.

So as you can see things are going be pretty busy the next few weeks/months.. lol. Today I am making new tags and cards.. but I think it might be time to get outside and enjoy part of the day, even if it's just sitting on the steps :)

I blinked and it was gone.....

Well my Vacation flew by like nothing and my first week back at work was SO hectic. This week is not much better but I thought I would pop in and say hello. I worked on a few pieces for the Trick or Trat tour over my holiday but spent most of the time out enjoying the few days of nice weather.
It's been pretty much raining non stop here and we are not use to this much moisture. I know what people mean about humid heat now! Blech!! lol. It's horrible!!!
Drove to Calgary this past weekend to visit one of my friends. It was a fun visit but sucks that it's such a long drive for a few hour visit. I did have a good time though and so it was well worth the trip.

Hmm, what else is new here... Oh, I got sucked into watching an episode of True Blood over my vacation... of course had to love it so I've managed to watch all 3 season and now watching the fourth as they come out.. lol. I borrowed the books now too.. Why oh why do I have to get addicted to these things! lol!!

Well anyway, I will be getting straight back into my bears ASAP as the doll show forms have arrived and I will be filling them out tonight and get them sent it. I am looking forward to the show this year and just hope I can manage to get enough made to make it a good show!

My Vacation has begun! Today I plan to do errands (blah) and some work around the house today. Next week should be more fun as I have some outside plans, fishing and swimming and hopefully a trip to see my friend in Calgary. Today I will do my best to get some photos done of some of my new critters and I plan to post my red Ellie who was just featured in the last issue of Teddy Bear Review up on ebay.
Last night I watched the fireworks for Canada day from my bedroom. The Display is a block from my house so I don't even have to leave my house to get the best "seats" lol! The thing that sucks about being that close to the celebrations is the drunk people who then spend all night walking by my house screaming and causing problems. I still have to go outside and make sure all my plants and things made it through the night! I'm so glad Canada day is only once a year. lol.

So anyway, I had better get on the errands part of my day before it gets too busy!

Just popping in quickly, today is my last day of work before a week vacation. I'm not going very far from home... I need your opinion... yes you... lol. So I've been working on new Melbears website as my old one was made by me over 10 years ago and it's very difficult for me to update quickly and efficiently. This is what I've come up with to replace it... http://melbears.webs.com

In other news, the rain stopped today after a solid week. I don't find the rain bad at all actually, I quite enjoy it (shhh!.. lol) but it is starting to flood in parts so at least a day for the water to soak in a bit is good. I know we are headed for some big thunderstorms now with all the moisture. Should make things interesting! :D

The post office is still on strike.. but I have been working like mad on new critters regardless. I am very excited to be working on some Halloween pieces for the Trick or Treat Halloween Studio tour. They now have a blog at http://halloweenstudiotour.blogspot.com/ for updates for the tour. I am making some very special one of a kind pieces for the tour with a portion of the proceeds going to the Bat Conservation International.

Been a bit of a frustrating week. I have a bunch of new critters to list for sale but the Canada postal strike is making me want to wait to list them. I am able to send other ways but I was quoted $130 dollars to post a wee bear to Australia. Wow, that is not going to work. It's very frustrating. I hope they figure things out soon.
I've been working on critters for my fall shows and starting to dream about Halloween... I know, it's the beginning of summer. I do love Halloween all year round though. I found a perfect costume for one of my helpers to wear this Halloween...... It's a bit big for me.

Lol! What do you think??? heehee. It's a it pricey though so not sure if I really want to start my Halloween season dropping that much of my Halloween budget on one item. I have SO many things I want to get this year. *rubs hands together*

For sewing inspiration I'm watching the AMC series The Walking Dead... lol! I can't wait to be able to show you what I'm working on! Heehee! It's POURING rain here with a tornado watch ... the perfect sewing weather :)

Wow! My house is for sale...

Well, not not the house I live in.. but my dream house. It's not too far from where I live now and I've drooled over this place since I was a child! lol. It's been for sale a few times over the years. I've always been in love with it.

Yep, this is right up my alley, and yes, it really is a house. Can you imagine Halloween at this house?! With secret passages and everything... It's been all renovated now and no longer looks like a 80's house inside. Now I just need to win the lotto! Ah, one can dream. Or maybe I'll start kissing some frogs and see if one turns into a prince. Ha ha ha! Mmmwwahh! ;)

Running on empty

Time zooms by when you are busy. It's been a hectic few weeks here and I've been a bit down in the dumps with news that a work friend of mine was leaving the province. I don't find many people in life who get me... very few... the sort of people who can giggle over the stupidest thing in the world.... people who can find humor in even the darkest things... those people are not common.
My job involves dealing with grumpy people who give me little, if no respect. It's not easy but I have always taken comfort in the very few people who I get to talk to in the day who make me laugh and really, without them I find it difficult to face the day. I miss our daily chats and goofiness. I really hope he does well with the move.. and I'm sure he will. He has a good soul even if he doesn't know it.

Since it's spring and spring being when babies seem to be born.. I have been busy with my chins causing me issues. Usually things go smoothly and all is well.. but when things don't go smoothly, they go very badly.. and now I'm feeding little ones every 2 hours around the clock. I'm exhausted. I think this is why I get so annoyed at people who say so cavalier that they want to breed... they have no idea the commitment you need to be willing to put into it. It breaks your heart and make you wonder why you even do it.

So we better have some happy and bear news in here as well... My red Ellie is in the latest issue of Teddy Bear review. I will be auctioning him on ebay just as soon as we know what is going to happen with the postal Strike. It's very frustrating as I have new stuff to list but don't want to risk shipping when a strike is looming.

Long weekend is coming! mwahaha.

Okay, maybe not so dramatic... lol.. I am expecting a 4 day weekend coming up. Monday is a holiday and as long as we can get everything done at work we can have Friday off as well. I have some weekend plans already to help my parents at their Cabin... it needs a bit of a clean up. They had a contractor out there doing some work and they left some stuff not completed and left a mess. So we shall go out there and clean it all up and make it shiny again.. lol. I would love to spend some time out there this summer and I think I will! Just got to nab one of my friends this summer who wants a couple days of vacation at the lake! :)

So I will also do my very best to get some new critters up for sale. I have 2 Levasenths totally done ready to list! I just need a few hours for photos and listings :) I can't wait. Hopefully over my 4 days I can get something accomplished.

I've been planting all I can... although the risk of frost is still out there... I just don't care after the long winter we had. I'll bring my planters inside if need be... I NEED flowers.. lol!

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I spent yesterday out in the yard doing work and planting stuff. It might be a bit too early but I am so tired of winter... if it gets cold again I will cover the plants with a blankie.. lol. I think I got too much sun though as I managed to sunburn my shoulders and back a bit and today I don't feel so hot.. lol. Oh well, some coffee and I should be good as new.
Today I think I will spend the better part of the day indoors working on some new bears. I have lots on the go!

I am so pleased to share that my Yellow Ellie or 'Levasenth' has been featured in the "inspirations" article in the June issue of Teddy Bear Review magazine! Be sure to get yourself a copy, it's a fantastic article featuring many talented artists.
I will be posting some new Ellies, including the one in the article soon. Most just need some finishing touches... which I've not quite had time to do.. but this weekend I REALLY want to spend sewing and hopefully I can!

I had a busy weekend, spending Saturday shopping with my bear bud Kristina and Sunday I spent a good part of the day at my parents for Mothers day. It was a nice but not very restful weekend. lol.

The snow is all gone for now and my cold is ALMOST done. This has been a bad one dragging on for over 3 weeks but it's almost run it's course so thank goodness for that. Hope you are all having a great week so far! Almost over the hump.. lol.

Well I've been off work since Thursday, normally I would say hooray but I'm off because I managed to come down with some sort of ... cold/flu/plague.. lol.. I am just starting to feel better but my Easter weekend was pretty much a write off. My Mom and I went to the antique show on Friday. Despite me being half zombie I had fun and got myself some antique Halloween postcards. I will take some photos of them today and post them later. I also got a couple wood crates to put in my studio for bears and fabric. I love them and they were cheap! lol.

Even though I've been so sick I've been getting lots of sewing done. Just sitting in front of the TV.. I really just needed to rest so ... resting and sewing is what I've been up to... They still need accessories but are done otherwise.

Now I'm working on a Golly and a new Dragon which are both almost done... I am so pleased with both of them... but anyway here, I better get back to work. Tomorrow I have to work so this is my last day to get critters done!

No, not what you think... I think they are hunting ME, and they are Geese.. lol! When I pulled up to work this morning this is what I saw..

He was honking at something in front of him so I looked over to my left......

Lol, So we have Geese for awhile. I wonder if they are going to nest near the shop. Would be nice to see gosling's wandering about.

Had a busy weekend, spent lots of time sewing and cleaning.. lol! I picked up the new Harry Potter movie and got to sit down and watch that. It was very good. I can't wait till the next one is out. Went to a friends going away dinner on Sunday evening. I knew a couple people there and it was nice to see friends I've not seen in awhile. We had quite a few laughs and even went for ice cream after dinner.

I've got 2 new Ellies coming soon and a new Bunny! I can't wait to see how they turn out as so far I'm very happy with them. I'll leave you with a peek at my latest Ellie.

Yes, we are amidst another snow storm.. I brought my camera today but of course left the memory card in my computer at home so you will have to wait for photos.

Wow, where the heck has April gone? I can't believe it's half way through already! Things have been very busy here as I'm sure you could tell from the lack of posting. I have been working on a brand new Melbears website which I hope will be ready to make a debut soon. I knew it would be a ton of work but I think it will be worth it. So far I'm happy with it and I've made it very easy to update.

Other than that I've been slowly planning for my fall show. Fall, yes.. lol. I save up bears and critters all year for my October show and I hope this year to have 30 new pieces ready. I am also doing the Halloween Studio tour to Benefit the Bat Conservatory. If you've been wanting one of my large Pandas this will be the time to get one. I only make one or two a year as they are so much work. This guy is going to be very special!

I've been a busy little shopper lately and I have 4 new yards of mohair on route. I can't wait to get it! Plus I did an eye order for albino glass eyes! Eeek! I'm excited about them. I have this idea in my head and now I can't wait to make it.... but I need those eyes! Took me awhile to find them and now that I've ordered them I can't wait for them to arrive! cool eh?? :-D

Antique show finds and other ramblings.

Friday I heard there was an antique show in Edmonton... a few "whining's" later I was allowed to leave work early and headed over to the show with my Mom. We had to walk almost 3 blocks as the parking lot was full but it was still worth it. There were no dolls or bears to be found but I fell in love with some old books one lady had.

Are they not just so pretty? Well I think they are and I had to have them. I don't know much about them. One is copyright 1888 and one has 1901 written in the front cover.

I also found this for $20, I LOVE old soda crates and I don't have a Canada dry one I LOVE it.

On the way home I got stuck in traffic but I received a phone call that there was a "surprise" waiting for me at home. Now I know most people love surprises... I'm not one of those people.. lol!! I so worried the whole time stuck in traffic and worried the whole drive home that it was something alive... everyone knows how depressed I've been since loosing my dog.. but I don't want another dog and the whole drive home I worried it was a puppy.

Thank goodness it was not... but it was a 23 inch monitor! :-O <-- that's me in shock. I am still in shock.. maybe I do like this sort of surprise. It's awesome and I don't have to squint so much! lol.... don't mind the messy desk :)

Only problem now is my website looks very bad on it! lol. I must get my rear in gear and update it now.

Well, I swore I would get some sewing done today, so I will go get at it! Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!

I keep seeing all these pretty photos of spring in other places.... so I thought I would share a few photos from here. Spring is coming and the snow is melting.. but we are not very close yet. It's still pretty even if we don't have flowers or green yet..... just getting very tired of the white stuff.

I'm still struggling with losing Spooky. I miss him so much and am finding it hard to not suddenly break down and cry.... but doing my best and trying very hard. I keep forgetting he's gone and go to let him out or take him for a walk. It really sucks.

On a happier note I have to Ellies ready for ebay and I'll be listing one this week... but anyway, I had better get back to work here.

Very sad day.

I lost my dog Spooky today. He was 15 years old and I had him for 12 years of his life. I don't know the trials he went through before I saved him.. but I know it was not good. It took many years to gain his trust and abolish his fears. I love him more than words can say. Today his old body gave up on him and he could no longer walk. I tried and tried to get him up and walking but his body would not let him. My heart broke as I let him go. I sit here crying, missing my friend who has always been there for me. Not knowing how I will face the days coming without his smiling face, happy barks and wagging tail. He was so full of happiness and life. In my world of crap he made each day a little better, a reason to get up and face the day ahead.

I will always love you my old friend and there will always be a huge hole in my heart that only belongs to you.

I've been in one of my "moods" the past while. Too many stressful things seemingly endless one after another and I've been starting to shut down. I think it comes to the point where you are just stuck in a place of never ending stress and don't really see a way out of it. When I get in one of these moods I like to be left alone and listen to dark music... so this has been the song I keep going back to for the past day and a half.

I'm going to turn this off now though and try to get some sewing done. See if I can accomplish something happy and productive today for the last free day of the week.

I've got Ellies going in the studio and I promise they are cute and not scary at all! lol

Just checking in

The last few weeks and been filled with ups and downs. One big up was seeing my bunny Cotton in the latest issue of Teddy Bear Review! I am thrilled!

On the down side my 15 year old dog Spooky is starting to fail. It's depressing to think I will likely loose him soon. I saved him from euthanasia 12 years ago and since then he has been my companion and friend. I know 15 is old for a large breed dog.. but that does not make it easier.

I'm also without a vehicle this week... probably into next week. What started as a quick fix turned into something else and the parts have to come from a far away land (Ontario.. lol!!). They might be here tomorrow but more than likely Monday... so I guess that will force me to stay home and get some work done this weekend..It's probably for the best and I can finish up what I've been working on...
Speaking of what I've been working on. I've been very busy sewing and delighted that I have some new pieces done and will photo them just as soon as I have time.... or manage not fall asleep at my desk at 8:30pm! lol.

I've also been working on the blog, as I'm sure you can see.... I've added some pages, including a wee "about me" I will add more when I have some time to sit and write... but better I spend the time sewing and getting new critters done.

So that is about all that has been going on here! I hope you are all having a good week.

Busy little bear maker!

We had a long weekend this past weekend Alberta, which gave me lots of time to sew. Since it was -25c is I decided staying indoors was the best plan. I took advantage of that and worked on new bears and critters the whole weekend... well I did take a break to go into the city for lunch one of the days... and took a visit to one of the antique malls. I did not find much but did nab another little curio cabinet. Yay. Now I have one for home and one for the next show I do.

Thought I would share a photo of the fabric I just got in... all the colors are calling me. I think that orange wants to be made into a big panda!The purple tipped, maybe a bunny? Ah, so much fun!

I know it's Feburary and not the time to be talking about Christmas... but I just had to bring this up. Yesterday while surfing the Halloween Studio tour blog, I came across something or someone called Krampus. Now if you know me, you know I'm not a big fan of Christmas. I really try to get into that whole "Christmas spirit" thing.. but I'm afraid my heart belongs to Halloween.
Now acording to legend, Krampus accompanies Santa during Christmas to warn and punishing bad children.. Lol!! Now I think I've found something to spark my interest in Christmas.

The antique show is coming up soon here in Edmonton.. so you know what I will be on the hunt for... not just Halloween Post cards.. but now Krampus post cards.

Stranger things HAVE happend.

So this morning, armed with a box of my artist made miniatures.... and my new little curio cabinet, I set to the task of putting my minis into the cabinet. Treasure after treasure I looked at each little item with happiness. Then I came to the wee box of my very favorites... the artist made kitties. I bought these the year I bought the house 4 years ago... and without a place to display them I had them put away. I had forgotten what I had even bought and when I opened the box I got shivers.....

Why you may ask? Well I bought the house 4 years ago.. and at the time I owned one black cat. Ghost... in the next few years I acquired, by sheer accident, Mouse... a brown tabby. Then just 2 months ago a homeless stray came into my life... a white and orange cat.. the orange parts being tabby... Jinx. So now I sit here and hold these miniature cats in my hand and it feels pretty strange... what un-nerves me a bit more is there is one more miniature kitty in my collection...

I really hope this does not mean a rag doll or Birman kitten is going to come out of nowhere to me! lol. 3 cats is enough! lol.

So anyway, that is my weirdness for the day and I thought it was cute enough to share!

Freaking good day for once.

I am always afraid to say when I've had a really good day. I hate to admit that they don't happen all that often... but today was just an all round good day. This morning 2 baby chins went to a new Mom and Dad. They seem like nice people so I really hope things go well. Later I went into Stony Plain to run some errands and I saw a little funny shop and decided to go in. Well it turns out they sell antiques, they did not have too much but I did find a sweet little curio cabinet. I will use it at my next show for miniatures.. or will use it to display some of my minis at home. I have been hoping to find one of those little cabinets for quite some-time!

Later I got to go to the Monster Jam.. which is the monster truck show here. I've not been to it in years and had SO much fun. I loved every minute of it.. although alot of it is staged and rehearsed, the stunts are real and it was pretty cool.

So tomorrow I plan to work in the studio. I am going to cut out a blue Ellie. Now that yet another Elephant is floating around in my head.... well once I get an Ellie stuck in my brain, there is not much room for anything else... heehee.

Cricut machine.

My Cricut in scheduled to arrive today... I've never wanted to see the UPS truck so much. Lol. .. but
when the tracking # changed to "out for delivery" I started to get pretty excited. It's sort of funny how new things can really brighten up your day.
I love watching the videos from Robynstamps.

It's been kind of quiet in Blog land here. I was not sure if I should do this post.. I try to keep my blogs upbeat as possible, but I don't think this will be one of those postings. Sunday we got word that Brad's aunt Daria passed. She was a very nice person and one of the few relatives that always talked to me.. and never made me feel weird. She was always interested in everything you had to say. I remember fondly showing her my bears and miniatures when she was over, she was actually interested in them and that is a rare occurrence with non bear collecting people. She was even one of my first blog followers. She touched the lives of so many people with her blog, people who were suffering with the same disease that stole her life.
I hope where she is now she is not in pain anymore and she is up and brighting the days of people who need it.
Please keep her close family in your thoughts. I can only imagine the pain they are going though. I did not know Daria well but I know she was a good person and taken too soon.

Movies I'm actually looking forward to seeing this year!

I am a huge movie fanatic... but sadly the last couple of years have not given me much to look forward to in the way of movies. Happily two movies for 2011 are getting me very excited. Water For Elephants is one of my favorite books... when I heard they were making it into a movie I was thrilled... THEN I heard it was starting Robert Pattinson.. who is one of my favourite young actors I was even more excited! I hope they do it justice as it's a wonderful book.

The next one I'm excited about is Red Riding Hood. It's directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who did the first Twilight movie.. so I have some high hopes for this movie. I hope Catherine can do wonders with a larger budget.

It has sort of a Sleepy Hollow feel to it does it not? So the thoughts of these 2 movies have been inspiring my dreams and work lately. I must stop buying fabric and actually get some new things made! lol!

Can you imagine, I finally ordered my Cricut Imagine!.. heehee. I've been wanting this machine for awhile but with the price tag attached to it... well I kept going back to the the less expensive models, thinking that they would probably be good enough. Well in my procrastination I recived a message from a friend of a SALE... oooh, I love sales... and this was a good sale! So now I just have to wait for it to get here.. 7-10 days. Hopefully it will get here sooner... I am so bad at waiting! lol.

It's never going to stop!! ??

It's STILL snowing! I spent the weekend at home, my only outing was to Home Depot to get some supplies for finishing the closet in the bedroom... 4 years of waiting! Well it's not totally done yet.... but the counter-tops are on and that is a big step. I can't wait until I can say it's totally done. It looks so nice, it is by far my favourite room.

The roads going to work this morning were terrible, driving really slow seems to be the trend of the season. Here are a few pics I took outside work. The cars are just lumps of snow. I was going to walk out onto the street but the neighbours and us have people out clearing snow so I didn't want to risk getting squashed. lol.

Well, I have to admit, the weather here is starting to get to me. Today I just wanted to get out of the house.. but when it's snowing and -25c you don't really go too far. So today I cleaned the house then designed a new Ellie. I've not made an Ellie for quite a few years so I am looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. I used the yellow fabric I dyed the other night. Tomorrow I will see if I can get part of it sewn. So I thought I would share a couple photos of my deck..

I don't think I will be BBQ-ing for awhile.. lol.

Well after a week off work I think I forgot how much work "real life" is! lol. I've not had time to work on anything this week. *pout* lol!!! I have had time to obesses over a new toy I want. I'm sure most of you have heard of a cricut machine. It's this magical machine that cuts shapes out of paper. I have really no clue what I would do with one.... but my mind has been working overtime of why I need this item. haha! Now to decide which one I want.... Who knew there were so many choices. I think the Imagine is calling me.. but I might have to settle for the Create to start with as it's more in my price range.

So anyway, that is what I've been doing. working and obsessing over things I don't need! lol!!

Back to work today and I am beyond tired. Getting into the routine of sleeping in does not work well when you have to get up for work on Monday... lol. Oh well, just have to make it through the day.
I've been working on a few bunnies on and off the past week. Yesterday I got the urge to make tags.. so I went and bought everything I needed to make them.... but then of course work has put a damper on my efforts.. lol.

Had a great day with Kristina yesterday and I got sooo many wonderful goodies AND my very own Ellie!!! I am so excited about him. I will get a photo of him later..... or steal one from Kristina when/if she posts one.. lol!!
It's been nice having some days off even though it's been stressful here. Today I am going to go work in the crawl space I have so many things to sort through and I will be listing some stuff for sale as soon as I can. Mostly fabric and some Barbies I think. When the crawl space is all done I will be a very happy Melly.. lol.
Tonight I have a party to go to so I am looking forward to that. They are nice people who are not drunks so I know it won't be one of those awkward stressful things I'm usually dragged to.

Okay, OKAY.. I have gotten a wee bit into the Christmas spirit, no not drinking! lol.
I don't think I will ever be a merry elf but I do my very best. Tonight I finished two ornaments for 2 special people. I hope they like them.

I have to work tomorrow even though the shop is closed.. but I didn't get all my work done today so I will go in and finish up and make sure my customers I've not had a chance to chat with know we are closed. It's been SO busy at work lately... Which I love... I seem to be much better at my job when it's busy.. when it's slow I procrastinate on everything.. lol.

Well at least it's stopped snowing.. we got a decent amount... People are getting stuck everywhere. I played it safe and got a ride home.. lol! I didn't get a chance to take photos at the house but I did take a few more at the shop.

I'm just getting ready to list another little bear up on ebay. He is a sweet little snow fairy. I'm really excited to be making some fairies again. It's been awhile!

I took this outside the office door just a few minutes ago. Blah! They are advising people not to travel.. lol. Little late now! It's still coming down and with how heavy the sky looks I doubt it's stopping anytime soon.

Working working working!

I've been working in the studio like a busy little bear lately. Making wings and dragons. I need to move my sewing machine today as it's just not working for me where it is. I hope to put it by the window.. so I can at least see the snow and the little birds outside. .. and speaking of snow! It's snoooowing here. I love how the snow looks but not venturing out in it. Today I will be staying close to home. lol.

I'm also working on a special critter for Kristina for our Christmas swap! Shhhhh.. teehee. I am really happy with how it's turning out.. but you will have to wait till she gets it.. so no peeking!
